Back-2-Back World Champions
Last night we had our Championship game for the Corporate Coed Soccer at YMCA Toby Wells. It was a great game from start to finish! Despite me on the IR, Ben stepped up and handled it at keeper especially after going into a tie as the final buzzer went off. This championship game came down to a 5 shot shootout! SO INTENSE! Check out the video below…
From top to bottom our team is stacked. I’m so proud of our team and everything we’ve accomplished. Cheers to another 10 weeks holding down the trophy!
Safari Park 1/2 Marathon
Last weekend was the Safari Park 1/2 Marathon at the formerly known Wild Animal Park and a whole bunch of co-workers made it out for the run. Despite all the logistic nightmares it was a pretty cool concept and race. Don’t blame them for it’s their inaugural race but they should have still taken some tips from the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series (just-sayin). It was pretty cool hanging out and watching the curious lions. They were all peeking over the corner of their exhibit wondering why there were all these human everywhere. At the end of the day it was a good morning for a run but walking 3 miles to and from the park was hell.
Top CGI Results:
- Omar – 1:21:32 (9th overall)
- RJ – 1:29:05 (27th overall)
Competitor Summer Party
It’s actually the event that I can’t wait for. It’s our summer work party at the Del Mar horse races. Good times with fellow workmates.
2nd Annual Del Mar Races Pre-Party
Wednesday was our annual work summer party at the Del Mar horse races and for the second time we pre-partied it up at Siena’s parents place in Del Mar. This time it went from 10 people to 50 people who came and joined. Definitely a good time and a dream house.
Behind the Scenes w/ Tricenter
Since the studio is locked down for VeloCenter we had to film a makeshift show around the office. Ann Weisling is our host and is a natural at it. We cross promoted and filmed in the VeloCenter set then out in the newsroom aka our cubicles.

On Set With VeloCenter
So for the whole month of July, our in-studio production of VeloCenter is covering the Tour de France. We’ve upped the quality of production by revamping our set, new jibs, new lighting, new sound proof blocks and with new hosts. We’ve hired Scott Kaplan of the Scott & BR Show! It’s pretty cool hearing Scott on the radio in the morning and then at 930am have him in our studio.
Our CEO of Competitor is the #4 guy of the original production of ESPN so there’s a lot of professional production to be made. From all the sets and shows we’ve done, I must say this is the most intense, rapid speed, smooth flowing, news room like production we’ve had. Video footage and content is constantly being sent to us directly from France. Its really cool to work behind a camera on a well built show.
From start to end I shot photos from yesterdays show to see what it’s like. Yesterday we shot the show in 3 segments and in between them everyone would huddle up and study the highlights and interviews. For 21 days straight we run the same routine.
Check out one of the final pieces up on the web now at competitortv.com
Okay U-S-A BBQ
For the USA vs Slovenia world cup soccer game we had a breakfast party in office at work. Dan brought the grill, potatoes, and sausages. A USA/Slovenia tie wasn’t even for us so we decided to gather some funds and throw an impromptu bbq in the parking lot next to our building. Grilled up some carne, pollo asada and fed and feasted like kings.
