New Orleans: Day 3

After the event, most of us went to House of Blues to the official after party event which was super fun. I finally realized that ALL HOB’s look the same! But this one was actually cooler than San Diego’s. As the party ended we moved the party over to Pat O’s for hurricanes and went to my 1st dual piano bar! So fun! In an attempt to stay up til our flight at 8am we went to an EMPTY Cafe Du Monde for bigneits! What an end to a great weekend!

New Orleans: Day 2

Saturday morning headed out for work in New Orleans to set up the finish line cameras. Walking out of Bourbon St in the morning is definitely a different sight than the night before. The architecture in the french quarter to me is amazing and beautiful. At the finish line were huge moss oak trees!

After work, meet up with the guys at our hotel and went out to a meal then afterwards posted up on the balcony on Bourbon and checked out what it felt like to chuck beads at people. Unfortunately had to call it a night for the early call time.

New Orleans: Day 1

I arrived on Friday evening in New Orleans and met up with the roomie and friends after the expo for some delicious new orleans taste. Everything was a packed house at every restaurant and finally found somewhere to fill our empty stomachs. Fortunately the place we went to had delicious beer, fried po-boys and good prices. I got a roast beef po-boy as im not as seafood friendly as everyone else.

After Effects: Audubon Park

So after completing both half and full marathon courses, I am most proud of myself for this clip made in after effects. I had to remember what I learned in school 4 years ago in the back of my brain somewhere.

The reason this is the only part of the video I had to make in after effects is because when we initially filmed this pathway at Audubon Park no cars were allowed on the path so I rode a bike trying to keep the camera on the handle bars steady for about a mile or so. After speeding the piece up, it looked awful with all the shaking and moving from the bike.

I heard the course preview was a success from multiple people that worked the expo. I will post up photos of the crowd once I get a hold of them.

So after hours and hours of travel, editing and rending. The final piece is complete and ready to be shown to 15,000+ runners this weekend. Below i have up 2 videos, a preview for the full and half marathon courses.

Vimeo also released a mobile version of Vimeo and now my videos can be seen right on your iphone. pretty cool.

Current Work Project: Mardi Gras Course Video

Im heading out to New Orleans again this Friday to work the Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras Marathon and 1/2 Marathon. In the meantime i’m finishing up the course preview video that I filmed out there in the beginning of the month. The final video is almost complete, only a handful of hours left. If only rendering didn’t take up 75% of the time i’d be done. One day there will be instant rending.

When I came back from New Orleans a lot of people asked “did you get beignets?” and unfortunately I had to say no because my time out there was limited. Especially because the world famous Cafe Du Monde was packed every single hour of the day!

Here’s a glimpse of what i’m working on. In this screen shot runners will be running through the French Quarter. As you can see, there’s a looooong line at Cafe Du Monde. On the left hand side is also the site of the St. Louis Cathedral. All the +15K runners are in for a treat.

Wiggin’ Out!

Last night I swooped up Geoff and headed out to Bekah’s wig themed birthday party out in OB. I found my old blond wig from my Ken Street Fighter costume for halloween 2 years ago. It pretty funny to see what kind of wigs people wear, for example Geoffs Joe Dirt wig. You start to forget what people really look like.

Presidents Day – Pizza Port & Bowling.

Spent presidents day out and enjoying the sun. Heading out to Pizza Port in Solana Beach for some delicious pizza and beer buddies. Afterwards headed to the alley for some bowling practice. I wish every Monday was like this.

My friend from work Danielle planned out this awesome successful valentines day sloshball fun at kate sessions park in PB. The turnout was amazing! friends from work, friends of friends, roomates, cousins, cousins cousins, etc all came out to spend their love all together pounding brewski’s. The weather was perfect and the view was so amazing from kate sessions park that overlooks mission bay and our skyline. Everyone brought their doggies and theyhad as much fun as the humans did. As the sun set, it didnt stop the fun, keg stands for everybody! Afterwards the part shifted over to Danielle’s house for card games and later on to cass street bar & grill.
