NEX-5 Test at Miramar Lake

I finally found a point-n-shoot camera i like. These are the first shots with my new Sony NEX-5 camera and I love how they came out.

Atlantis & Cabbage Beach – Paradise Island

So we headed over to Paradise Island via ferry. In order to get to the famous Atlantis resort we had to walk through the marina that docked incredibly huge yachts! We found our way into the Atlantis resort and sat at the sports book room and watched the 2nd half of the US Women’s Soccer vs Brazil game. Atlantis reminded me of a Las Vegas Hotel with casino’s, sports book rooms, beautiful pools and so on.

Afterwards I felt the urge to see some kind of beach so we asked for directions and walked about a mile in the blazing heat and humid weather. Then all of a sudden, at the end of this walkway surrounds by trees was this cliff and all you would see are crystal clear waters. This was Cabbage Beach. When I thought Coco Cay had amazing beaches, this just topped every single beach i’ve ever been too in my lifetime. Sand that felt like powder on your feet, water the temperature of a heated jacuzzi, and the clearness of the water. I was seriously in awe the whole time. Right when we got to the beach there was this man that asked if we wanted to go wave running and we said no but 3 word he said thereafter will always stick in my head… “Welcome to Paradise.”

We had to catch the boat before it headed back to Miami so we headed back to the ferry. On the way to the boat was this house on the dock and it was actually used in the James Bond Casino Royale movie. First thing we did was get pizza (all you can eat) and laid out on the pool deck as the boat set sail and while they were having a Sexiest Man Award.

Goodbye Nassau and Paradise Island…

Miami Beach Art Deco District

I may be going out of order of our trip but I figured this would be an easy post. Our last night in Miami, we had the chance to walk around the nightlife of the Art Deco District in South Beach Miami since our hotel was in the heart of it all. I love the architecture and neon lights on all the buildings. Kinda felt really unreal and like we were on a hollywood movie set. This area is definitely worth walking around in the evening when in Miami. There are also countless amount of restaurants to fulfill your hunger.

Art Deco is an eclectic artistic and design style that began in Paris in the 1920s and flourished internationally throughout the 1930s, into the World War II era. The style influenced all areas of design, including architecture and interior design, industrial design, fashion and jewelry, as well as the visual arts such as painting, graphic arts and film. The term “art deco” was first used widely in 1966, after an exhibition in Paris, ‘Les Années 25′ sub-titled Art Deco, celebrating the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes that was the culmination of style moderne in Paris. At its best, Art Deco represented elegance, glamour, functionality and modernity.

Johnny & Lauren Sneak Peek

Here is a sneak peek of my manager Johnny & his lovely fiancé Lauren. Had a great time cruisin around San Diego taking photos. Now if only the sunset had played nicely that day. Can’t wait for their big day coming up…

The French Quarter

A few days last week I was in New Orleans for work and to film the upcoming Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras Marathon & 1/2 Marathon course. I arrived in The Big Easy Thursday night and after hitting up the hotel at the JW Marriott I went out to eat at Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse for a little filet and mashed potato. Afterwards I walked around the streets of the French Quarter, Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral, and got a little late night snack at Cafe Du Monde. It was definitely a great chance to take my new Canon 7D out on a spin around town.

Up in the Air: New Orleans to San Diego

I was in New Orleans for a few days last week and on the way home I thought I would take photos with my iPhone out the window. Its pretty cool the way the earth looks from way up there. Not many people get to fly and see what the earth looks like from the friendly skies. From the bayou to the Louisiana coast to Galveston, Houston, and over the deserts of the southwest.

Meet Intrepid

I would like to introduce to you a new member of my family, Intrepid. Intrepid’s breed is Bengal Cat and has been a show cat. I was home yesterday and he was happy to have some company and we had a little photo shoot. He loved the camera as he posed, followed and stared at the camera. It seems like he’s starting to get a feel of his new home.

Fallen Members

Every Christmas tree once decorated, loved and standing brightfully tall surrounded by family with hot chocolate in a nice cozy home for the holidays faces the inevitable lonely ending.

Thank you Mr. Christmas Tree for the memories.

Ben & Amy Engagement Photos

Back in November Lester & I took our co-worker Ben and his finace Amy’s engagement photos. This was a step for me because I have never done a photo shoot like this and i’ve always wanted to. We had a great time roaming around downtown and especially at Bar Basic where they first met. They came our much better than I thought and I look forward to doing many more ahead.

Heart of the City

Friday night Alvin and I met with Allan and Andrea in downtown to just hang out and people watch, plus it was a good opportunity to take my 7d on the streets. It was an interest night for people watching. Allan is house watching one of his students dad’s place in a loft right above the yardhouse so we picked up some mexican food right across the street on broadway st and headed upstairs and relaxed. It was good to get out and see the city from my camera lens.

Sunsets.

Kearny Moto Park X North Park

The outsiders had their event at the kearny mesa moto track saturday night. watching only made me want my own bmx and race on the track myself. it looked so fun.

Afterwards we went to North Park to find something to do and ran into a Art Walk kinda thing. A strip of art galleries had open houses and we checked out a bunch of art. it felt like williamsburg in brooklyn. it was pretty coool.

Twilight Over San Diego

This evening i caught the sunset over the pacific just after the rain clouds had disappeared. i quickly got home and brought my equipment bag to the quickest location with the best view of the sunset. yes the rain puts everyone in the shittiest moods, but it can also bring out the most beautiful sights (as my thursday post shows). its one of the reasons to thank the rain.
