Road Trip to Huntington

On Saturday Heather and I went to Huntington Beach for her brothers wedding shower. On the way up pit stopped at the Rainbow Sandal Outlet in San Clemente. After numerous trys there were finally open. After we landed in HB, Heather took me to Alessá for some delicious Italian food. So far tops the list of one of the best Fettuccine Alfredo’s I’ve ever had. Finally met Zero who was filled with energy all evening.

Behind the Scenes w/ Tricenter

Since the studio is locked down for VeloCenter we had to film a makeshift show around the office. Ann Weisling is our host and is a natural at it. We cross promoted and filmed in the VeloCenter set then out in the newsroom aka our cubicles.

Tee Time For 8

For the 3 day weekend we gathered 8 of us who are golf aficionado’s and beginners and booked a double tee time for 8 at The Vineyards in escondido. It was a perfect day for golf except for all the tee box delays. I even hit a 305 yard drive on the 13th hole.

On Set With VeloCenter

So for the whole month of July, our in-studio production of VeloCenter is covering the Tour de France. We’ve upped the quality of production by revamping our set, new jibs, new lighting, new sound proof blocks and with new hosts. We’ve hired Scott Kaplan of the Scott & BR Show! It’s pretty cool hearing Scott on the radio in the morning and then at 930am have him in our studio.

Our CEO of Competitor is the #4 guy of the original production of ESPN so there’s a lot of professional production to be made. From all the sets and shows we’ve done, I must say this is the most intense, rapid speed, smooth flowing, news room like production we’ve had. Video footage and content is constantly being sent to us directly from France. Its really cool to work behind a camera on a well built show.

From start to end I shot photos from yesterdays show to see what it’s like. Yesterday we shot the show in 3 segments and in between them everyone would huddle up and study the highlights and interviews. For 21 days straight we run the same routine.

Check out one of the final pieces up on the web now at competitortv.com

Independence Day.

Spent the 4th with the lovely Heather, the Veens (including Lola), and Francisco at dog beach in Coronado. Had great sandwiches made by Shawn with Franny’s delicious torta bread straight from TJ. The waves were pounding the shores all afternoon. Went back to the Veens for some homemade burgers and seattle bacon wrapped dogs by Shawn. Later that day watched the Big Bay Boom fireworks in front of the county of administration building for an amazing show. It was a good day.
