Competitor Summer Party!

So our company has an annual out of office company summer party. This year we went to the 2nd day of the Del Mar Fair races! I’ve lived in SD for 26 years and this was my 1st time. Yes i know, its sad. So after working a half day in the office, a few met up at Sienna’s to grab a few pre drinks at her AWESOME house on top of a hill in del mar/carmel valley, pretty much looking over torrey pines beach.

The races were fun! But i think the odds of winning is pretty slim. I’d play blackjack over betting on horses but its pretty fun yelling for your horse. All the races/horses i bet on had better payouts but sucked. These dumb horses would be #1 throughout the whole races then get burnt out and finish last. But being around everyone from work is definitely awesome. Im in good company.

Time Trial

Recently at work i ran into these crazy time trail bikes on the way to pick something up from the printer. These two bikes are from Felt and Specialized and they are both their top of the line time trial bikes. The Felt DA retails for $9,300 and is not authorized to leave our building and the Specialized Transition runs around $8,800. The Felt is perfect for those low key riders who like to be stealth. The Zipp logo on the wheels are 3M! The Specialized is more for those flashy riders who like to bling out! Golden cogs and chain! Too sick. These bikes are in our office because they are waiting for their photo shoot for one of our magazines coming up.

Hoey!

Recently kicked it with my brother from another mother, IAN HOEY! and busted out the polaroid camera.

They are delicious. Hot & spicy dog (felix dog), grilled onions, and cream cheese. deadly but good.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Race Day

Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Pt. 3

Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Pt. 2

Our second day in Seattle we had walk through’s at the start and finish line of race day. The finish line was located at Quest Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks which lays directed side by side to their baseball stadium Safeco. And they are both new stadiums. Oh how us San Diegans are jealous. Spent the rest of the day walking around downtown to find a lunch spot and setting up registration at the expo which was located right in between both stadiums. Very convenient to the hot dog stands right outside for the mariner x padres games. Later that night, my roomate and I checked out Matisyahu live in concert at the Moore Theater.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Pt. 1

I was in Seattle last week for work for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon. Departed san diego and arrived in seattle and got settled in. I got my own rental car, 2009 Toyota Carolla! Met up with co workers at the near by other hotel and headed to downtown Seattle for the Mariners game in which they were playing the Padres! It was pretty cool! The baseball and football stadiums are right next to each other. But definitely good times…

Padres vs Athletics

April had fathers day Padres tickets so we took the trolly down to the ballpark and walked around the stadium enjoying delicious food.

Escape From Alcaztraz Triathlon

I was lucky enough to be invited to cover the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon in San Fransisco, CA  and this was one of the most awesome experiences that i’ve had in my life. . My credentials was for Triathlete Magazine. They flew me out right after my sisters graduation to SF. Once I got there I checked into the Hyatt and had my own room to myself with 2 beds. Had a nice little solo dinner down at the restaurant. My call time was 6am the next morning so i went to sleep rater quickly.

Once we got there, we got on a couple of boats to cover the start. The triathletes start on a boat next to Alcatraz and jump off and start their 1.5 mile to the shore. From there they do a 18 mile bike ride, then 8 mile run by the golden gate bridge. As my first triathlon coverage, everything came and went super fast and I was forced to make fast decisions where I wanted my shots.

Everyone told me it was going to be cold at the marina in SF so i wore rather warm clothes. Well I was wrong, it was freaken hot and i sweated all morning long running from one shot to another with camera gear. But it was all worth it by noon. Especially the VIP passes that had catered rubios in the VIP booths.

All in all, it was an awesome experience and I met cool people. Got back to the hotel, edited my footage, and flew home.
