Today opportunity was knocking. I had an interview for a web designer position. They later called me back to meet with the VP. Next thing you know it, I am the newest full time employee. I am very thankful for everyone that has helped me reach where I am today. I am going to work for The Competitor Group. Check out what they are all about. I think I’ll fit in just fine…

Carazy Hump Day

What a crazy day it was today. I had a job interview at 10am. Work right after. Phone calls for valentines dinner. Zoo York and A# rep came in. Circa rep showed us fall line. Phone calls from Sidebar to do their myspace. Phone calls to go back to interview with VP of company. Photoshoot at the shop. Interview with VP. Go back to the shop. Then go home.

Brand Ink Plastisol

We stopped by Brand Ink in oceanside to pick up our new shop RYU tees. Brand Ink screens shirts for skate brands chocolate, girl, etc. They got some crazy 16 octopus arm automatic machines and 1 big conveyor belt dryer that you can cook 10 pizzas in a matter of seconds. jk.

LA Trip Part 3: Converse Skate HQ

On the way back home towards SD we stopped by converse skate (cons) in costa mesa to visit marketing/art director raibyn! When we got there edwin and ryan were skating the hurley warehouse. Raibyn showed us around the cons headquarters. It was soooo nice! i wouldnt mind working there everyday of my life! raibyn also hooked it up with another pair of cons cts (skate chuck taylors)! Since im already on their flow list, these were my 3rd pair of cons! Thanks Raibyn and happy birthday!

LA Trip Part 2: The Hundreds HQ

After the photo shoot, we headed back east on the 10 freeway. The Hundreds are having open house this week for account holders. Our rep Dave showed us around their rather new warehouse and treated us well with awesome hospitality. Kicked it in the arcade for a minute then showed us their showroom. They have stuff for us down the road at the workshop. Ive been a fan of the hundreds before they blew up like crazy. before those paisley hoodies. bobby was the only blogger I knew back in the day. that long of a fan. Its good to see them grow the way they did and the direction they are taking the company.

LA Trip Part 1: Arnette Photoshoot

We headed to the santa monica area for willys photoshoot with arnette. We got there about around 11am. We got to this photo studio where they have like 3 big studio rooms, a kitchen, a cafe, ping pong table and a whole lotta expensive photo equipment. I was excited to see a real deal hollyfield photoshoot.

When we entered the studio they were shooting this surfer guy that also rides for arnette. After his shoot was over he said whats up to me on his way out while me and jr were playing ping pong. I later found out that it was only pipeline surfer Jamie O’Brien! He just flew into LA from tahiti for this shoot and was headed straight for panama right after.

They served some bomb food for lunch. heres the lineup: mixed greens with balsamic vinegar, raspberry chicken, salmon, potatoes, cookies, and a sooooo good delicious pie crust caramel fruit pie. deng i can taste it right now.

After lunch it was willys turn. It was a crazy experience. they had fashion people to help with willys wardrobe, makeup artist, photographer and his light crew along with a whole bunch of people, all of which were in the back watching over. They would shoot frame after frame after frame. they prolly took a good 100 photos of philippines finest. haha.

So towards the end of willys shoot, Sanoe Lake of the movie Blue Crush, and billabong model came in for her shoot. Me and JR have been fans of her for years and years and its always dope to see her in person. I asked to take a photo with her and she actually said “its good to see you again”!!! I guess she remembers me from an arnette photoshoot we did by her house prolly a good 1-2 years ago. I’ll admit it, i was start struck.

After that we were headed to The Hundreds headquarters. What an experience i tell ya.

Re-united With Sundevil Stadium!

So im playing in another football league and this time its at my alma mater, Mt Carmel High! It feels good to play under the lights again and in this stadium! This is the first time since my senior year in 2000. 9 freaken years ago! Im not as swift and agile as I once was, but I can say im getting pretty close to it again. I can hang playing on offense and defense without huffing and puffing so much.

We went into over time and I caught the winning TD! last time I caught a TD in this stadium, when it counted, was against RB back in 2000! it feels good to be back home. yes willy calls me uncle rico. im cool with that.

Skip-it

After talking to some of my advisors, I was an email away from taking the next step into getting a full time job. However, that night i looked a liitle bit more into the job and I decided not to pull the trigger. I understand that sometimes its not about the pay but a chance to build the resume, but when i cant find a damn good thing about it on google, i dont think its a good job reference. i read someones review on this site and it said, “It taught me that hard work does not pay off, but nodding your head and giving high-fives through a fake smile might.”

This place received a grade of an F. Plus during the meeting it seemed like they were trying so hard to pitch us something. I almost bought into it.

Solo Trip

Sorry for the lack of updates this week. I kinda took a break from bloggin i guess. well, i just really didnt wanna take my $900 camera out in the rain.

Last tuesday, i had an opportunity knock with a web designer job. It was downtown and they had a open house for all candidates. The spot was a 2 story brick building on 7th and F st. However, it was a start up company and you weren’t guaranteed a full paycheck.

Before the meeting I took a solo stroll downtown. visited jeff at 5&A dizzime and supreme mark at blends. I even had a nice solo lunch/dinner at Bread on Market.

The Office/Grubbery

Me, tk, flo, stephen, and joe were all at the grubbery to do work. We all brought our mac computers and books. Its good to not be distracted by a tv and bed. I got a lot done this afternoon. This year has been good to me already with freelance work. I will be crossing my fingers for the next couple of weeks. There is this full time web designer job i’m hoping for. pray for me.

GSP > BJ Penn

Sat night went to ed’s pad in downtown/barrio logan to watch the bj penn fight. it wasnt much of a fight. bj got kick butt kicked. he was on his back most of the night.

I Hop for iHop

Sat morning, me and my beautiful gf went to ihop for bottomless pancakes! Food was good, pancakes were good, but we only ate like 4 pancakes. cheers to a hearty breakfast.

Jenn’s Bday

We went to Bondi in the gaslamp for dinner. Bondi is a aussie restaurant/bar with weird stuff. Afterwards we went into decos. Then after that went to SIN where the night got better because tk got us bottles. happy bday jenn.
