Promo Kicks.

A big part of working retail is promo stuff. promo as in promotional stuff. brand reps like to give you free stuff so you can rock it at work and all the customers are like, “those are sick! i wanna buy that”. pretty much free advertisment. but for some strange reason, all of a sudden, a bunch of shoe brands started promo-ing kicks to me..

This is from the Nike SB rep. These are the first actually photos of them. they arent even out so i had to watermark them incase someone jacks these fotos. someone needs to take credit. a big part of being a size 9 is that all the sample shoes come in size 9 so i got hooked up.

Zoo York is has a crazy shoe line. i got these at the past trade show here in SD. Can you say Mesa Verde Middle School? cuz i cant. its all about BLK MOUNTAIN MIDDLE SCHOOOOL!

Circa recently dropped by the MM shop to show us the holiday line. these next day the came in the mail.

O yeh. i almost forgot about these syndicate vans i got last week. again, these are sample size 9′s and they arent even out yet.

Typography.

My philosophy is, to become a great graphic designer, you must take a look back at advertisements from the past. study placement, analyze the typography and learn the look n feel of classic ads. They all have BIG bold font. they all look the same. its kinda like how nike still does it today. this is a look at what i try to do everyday.

68 in 5 Minutes.

I worked the 1030-7 shift on tuesday. today was just a normal day. well…. almost.

• we sold 68 workshop buttons in a matter of 5 minutes

i just went around our perimeter and took a view pictures. below is this dope lakers board. im not a fan of the lakers, or basketball in general (maybe cuz i suck) butthis is definately an art piece!

Along with working inside the shop, i re-upped the workshop website. this was my workspace setup. on monday we had the most visits i think ever (well especially for a monday). we had 527 unique visit, meaning new visitors, and we had over 5000 hits.

We have new stools in Mira Mesa!

Last night we went on our midnight ride for the 1st time in weeks. Basketball season is coming up so we gotta start training.

we rode from Tk’s to Jr’s to carmel mtn road to blk mountain rd to WAMU to the 56 and down to Del Sur to Westview high to laps around the track to the back of blk mountain road to my house.

im prepping a video archive blog next. so get prepared. i gather up some old video clips and stuff from the past 6 years. (not that many vids as u think)

wow. as much as i love to post blogs, i just couldnt due to my crazy schedule. if its gonna take me to wake up at 4am to post, i will. i didnt have another form or shape of a camera on me, so this post will lack photos. sorry.

i just had a crazy/awesome weekend. like ive mentioned before, going to new eateries/clubs helps your mind from falling into the routine. im going to try o explain my weekend in list form to make it easier for you to read (i hope).

Friday, the possee went out to The Prado in Balboa Park and Landlord Jims

1. if your planning to go to the prado for a romantic dinner, dont eat at the bar.
2. if you call microwavable food happy hour, your crazy.
3. prado has a dope look n feel. i recommend at night.
4. LJ’s on a night with no event, is sooooo much better
5. saw fools lay their greasy hair on my skateboard on the wall at LJ’s. luckily i was drunk.
6. i owe drinks to the possee for getting me drinks. FYI: LJ’s doesnt take cards.

I worked the 1030-7 shift from last monday to saturday. It was deserving to go partying sat night. i joined my brother from another mother, ian hoey and his possee. it was andrew sprigle’s (Workshop rider) birthday bash weekend. On agenda was hotel/stingaree but a lot more came out of it.

1. when you have a hotel and take the black lincoln for a 10-15 drive to the club, your ballish
2. but when you have bottle service and skip the line, you are ballin!
3. always carry a business card on you, real or fake, you dont want to miss the opportunity with the waitress when shes asking for a business card from you. her name was amber.
4. when you see a bachelorette party, you immediately go into recon attack mode.
5. who wears a dead serious hoody at stinagree?
6. i said “FUCK THE DODGERS”, yes i said it. i was trying to be real. i started that shit. some dodger fans wanted to throw down. they had nothing on 10 white boys and 1 token asian guy.
7. slept over a mr. hoey’s girls house somewhere in the tumbleweed blowin santee
8. woke up to people talking for hours. i couldnt sleep so i pretended. i missed my football games in the morning
9. woke up with a size med shirt on. havent worn one of those since high school.
10. a hungover feast at chili’s. was later joined by the ladies.
11. cvs, and the pool supplies store in search for a red lobster floatie and snorkel gear with 1 super crazy white guy. ended up with a hammerhead shark.
12. after party at mr. hoeys pool in santa luz. thank god to be back close to home.
13. girls wanting to take my shirt off. i guess it pays to go to the gym!?
14. watching the padres suck again in the gym room. we dont need any hitters right?

so there you go. my weekend. i cant complain for a weekend like this. thanks to my friends that made this possible. now im broke til my parents get back from the philippines. i also start school this week. every thurs for the next 5 weeks, then i go back to the m-f 8-12 school sched through the summer. ill get my degree in september.

did you guys watch heroes last night!? it starting to turn into X-men pretty much. humans trying to take out the mutant world but the leader of the humans is a mutant. blah blah blah.
